Founded in 2006 by Dr Paul Carey and Dr Eric Roberts

Both of the founding partners have been working in the field of building services engineering and building energy management for about 40 years between them; the last 10 years of which both have been working in the field of building energy simulation and ventilation modelling.  Since founding the company, the rising importance of energy issues has enabled the company to grow both in size and the services offered.

Zero Energy Design Ltd utilise a variety of software tools to model and predict the energy and environmental performance of buildings from concept designs right through to post-occupation targeting and monitoring studies.  We aim to use the right software tool for each job and don’t subscribe to the one size fits all philosophy.

Our ultimate goal is to optimise buildings such that they have net-zero energy consumption or carbon emissions.  Whilst we wholly accept that this is not always possible, we do aim to reduce energy consumption levels to as low as is practically achievable.

We seek to bridge the gap between the various members of design teams and we can equally provide advice to architects at the concept stages of design and also highly detailed analyses for building services engineers and other consultants.

We are accredited and registered Low Carbon Consultants with the CIBSE Scheme.  Dr Eric Roberts was one of the first recipients of the CIBSE Low Carbon Consultant certification for Thermal Simulation Methods.
